Long shot Shared Account wins Filly & Mare Turf
November 6, 2010LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -Shared Account survived a photo finish to win the $2 million Filly & Mare Turf at the Breeders' Cup.
Edgar Prado rode the 46-1 long shot to a narrow win over defending champion Midday under the lights Friday night at Churchill Downs. Shared Account ran 1 3-8 miles in 2:17.74.
The 4-year-old filly paid $94 to win - second-largest in the event's 27-year history.
Keertana was third and Red Desire from Japan was fourth in the field of 11.
It was Prado's fourth Breeders' Cup career win, and the second for trainer Graham Motion.
