Jockey Garrett Gomez in spill at Churchill Downs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Top jockey Garrett Gomez has been taken to the hospital following a spill at Churchill Downs.

Gomez was riding Indy Bouquet on the turf course in Thursday's sixth race when the 3-year-old filly fell and appeared to roll over Gomez.

He went to Audubon Hospital as a precaution. Indy Bouquet, owned by WinStar Farm, was put down following the accident.

The 38-year-old Gomez has led the earnings list the last four years. He is scheduled to ride eight horses during the Breeders' Cup, starting Friday at Churchill Downs.

Among his mounts is Blame, who will take on unbeaten Zenyatta in the $5 million Classic on Saturday.
