Smarty Jones returning to Pennsylvania

MIDWAY, Ky. (AP) - Smarty Jones is going home.

The 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness champion will move from Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky to Ghost Ridge Farm in York, Pa., for the 2011 breeding season. Smarty Jones was born at Someday Farm just outside Philadelphia.

Three Chimneys Farm says heavy East Coast interest in Smarty Jones' stallion services led to the decision. He has stood at Three Chimneys since his retirement and become a promising stallion. The farm will host a going away party Nov. 3.

Smarty Jones narrowly missed becoming the first Triple Crown winner in more than 25 years when he was upset by Birdstone in the Belmont. He finished with eight wins in nine career starts before retiring because of ankle problems.
