Quick Enough earns win at Hollywood Park
October 12, 2010INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Quick Enough gave jockey Patrick Valenzuela his first Oak Tree meet stakes win in nearly four years with a 11/2-length victory in the $100,000 Morvich Handicap on Monday at Hollywood Park.
With the Grade 3 win, Quick Enough earned a spot in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint on Nov. 6 at Churchill Downs.
Quick Enough ran six furlongs in 1:08.42 and paid $7.60, $4 and $2.80.
Dilemma returned $14 and $6, while 8-5 wagering favorite Scenic Blast was another neck back in third and paid $2.60 to show.
Valenzuela's previous Oak Tree stakes win was in the California Cup Juvenile Fillies on Oct. 28, 2006. He hadn't won a stakes at Hollywood Park since Dec. 21, 2007. He recently regained his jockey's license in California after a series of drug-related suspensions.
Quick Enough, a 6-year-old gelding, was claimed for $40,000 on Aug. 5 at Del Mar. He has career earnings of $278,120, with seven wins in 14 starts.
