Tizway wins Belmont's Kelso
October 4, 2010NEW YORK (AP) - Tizway pulled away to a 5-length victory over Cool Coal Man on Sunday in the $250,000 Kelso Handicap at Belmont Park.
Rajiv Maragh was aboard for trainer H. James Bond as Tizway earned his fifth win in 15 starts. The 5-year-old ran one mile in 1:34.42 and paid paid $7.50, $3.90 and $5.20. Cool Coal Man returned $5.30 and $6.60, while Jersey Town paid $10.60 to show.
Belmont also offered a pair of $150,000 grass stakes for 2-year-olds.
Air Support beat Soldat by 1 1/2 lengths in the Pilgrim, paying $12 to win. Winter Memories romped by 5 1/4 lengths over Arch Support in the Miss Grillo for fillies. She paid $4.90 to win.
