Top stallion Kingmambo is a stud no longer
September 29, 2010VERSAILLES, Ky. (AP) - Top stallion Kingmambo is no longer a stud horse.
The 20-year-old horse had been at Lane's End Farm since his retirement. Will Farish of Lane's End's called Kingmambo ``one of the great stallions of all time.''
Kingmambo has sired 86 stakes winners and champions in eight countries. His offspring includes 1999 Belmont Stakes winner Lemon Drop Kid as well as Henrythenavigator and Russian Rhythm. His offspring has won nearly $95 million during their racing careers.
Kingmambo starred in Europe before becoming one of racing's top stallions. He won three Grade 1 races in France and was among the top milers of his generation.
