Nicanor wins Belmont feature

NEW YORK (AP) - Nicanor, Barbaro's brother, held on to beat Skipadate by a neck Friday in the $52,000 allowance feature at Belmont Park.

Nicanor, a 4-year-old colt, set all the fractions for his fourth win in 11 starts. He is a full brother to Barbaro, the 2006 Kentucky Derby winner who sustained a catastrophic breakdown in the Preakness and was euthanized on Jan. 29, 2007.

Ramon Dominguez was aboard for trainer Michael Matz and Roy and Gretchen Jackson's Lael Stable as Nicanor ran the 1 1-16 miles in 1:42.70 on the firm turf course.

In his New York debut, Nicanor paid $15.40, $6.50 and $4.40. Skipadate returned $4.70 and $4.20. No Inflation paid $5.10 to show.
