Get Stormy wins Bernard Baruch at Saratoga
August 28, 2010SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Heavily favored Get Stormy took control in the final sixteenth of a mile to win the $200,000 Bernard Baruch Handicap, beating National Kid by 2 3/4 lengths on the turf at Saratoga Race Course.
The Tom Bush-trained 4-year-old, ridden by Javier Castellano, ran 1 1/8 miles over a firm inner turf course in 1:46.70 to earn $120,000 for owner Sullimar Stable.
Get Stormy paid $3.90, $3 and $2.30. National Kid returned $5.80 and $4.90, and Radical Sabbatical, third of seven, earned $4.80 to show.
The Baruch, on the heels of a win in the Fourstardave Handicap, was Get Stormy's second stakes victory of the Saratoga meeting and third of the year.
