Jockey injured after being thrown at Saratoga
August 19, 2010SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Jockey Rajiv Maragh has been taken the the hospital after being thrown from his mount, Pico Dinero, on the stretch turn of the seventh race at Saratoga Race Course.
A New York Racing Association spokesperson says Maragh was conscious when transported by ambulance directly from the racetrack to Albany Medical Center.
Pico Dinero, racing in tight quarters, stumbled and hit the rail on the inner turf course. The gelding regained his feet and galloped toward the wire, apparently uninjured.
