Wasted Tears wins Mabee Stakes at Del Mar
August 16, 2010DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) - Wasted Tears held off a challenge down the stretch from Lilly Fa Pootz and won the $250,000 John C. Mabee Stakes by a nose at Del Mar on Sunday.
Ridden by Rajiv Maragh, Wasted Tears led from the start and ran the 1 1-8 miles in 1:47.35. The 5-year-old returned $4.20, $3.40 and $2.40.
Lilly Fa Pootz paid $8.20 and $3.60, while Gotta Have Her returned $2.40 to show.
Wasted Tears earned $150,000 to increase her bankroll to $708,598.
