Lubash wins NY Stallion Stakes at Saratoga
August 12, 2010SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Lubash, ridden by Kent Desormeaux, opened a clear lead entering the stretch and held off a late bid by favored Seattle Mission to win in the $100,000 New York Stallion Stakes Cab Calloway division by 1 1/4 lengths Wednesday at Saratoga Race Course.
The race was restricted to 3-year-olds sired by stallions standing in New York.
The Jim Ryerson-trained Lubash ran 1 1-6 miles over the inner turf course in 1:42.11 and paid $6.40, $3.20 and $2.50. Seattle Mission paid $2.60 and $2.30 and Zealous Boy, third of eight, returned $3.80.
Lubash earned $60,000 for his owner, the Ben J. Aliyu Stable.
