Stradivinsky wins Belmont's Jaipur
July 18, 2010NEW YORK (AP) -Stradivinsky beat Yield Bogey by 1 1/4 lengths Saturday in the $200,000 Jaipur Stakes on the turf at Belmont Park.
Stradivinsky led all the way, grabbing the early lead after Formidable, the even-money favorite, stumbled at the start and unseated jockey Jose Lezcano. Both horse and rider appeared uninjured.
Stradivinsky, claimed for $50,000 last time out by trainer Rick Dutrow, stretched his winning streak to four. The 7-year-old gelding ran the six furlongs in 1:07.74 on the firm course with Chuckie Lopez aboard.
Stradivinsky paid $6.90, $4.40 and $3.80 as the 2-1 second choice. Yield Bogey returned $5.40 and $4.80. Dubai Rainbow paid $5.10.
