July 4, 2010SHAKOPEE, Minn. (AP) -Jockey Scott Stevens sustained critical but non-life-threatening injuries, including two punctured lungs and fractured vertebrae, after his mount suffered an apparent injury and tumbled during a race at Canterbury Park.
Canterbury spokesman Jeff Maday (muh-DAY') said Stevens was leading aboard Sombre in the sixth race Friday night when the horse went down.
The spill caused three other jockeys to fall and Stevens might have been trampled by other horses. Two other jockeys also were hospitalized.
