Granted Tiger wins Belmont feature

NEW YORK (AP) -Granted Tiger cruised to an easy win over two rivals Thursday in the $55,000 allowance feature for fillies and mares on the turf at Belmont Park.

Cornelio Velasquez took the initiative, hustling Granted Tiger right to the front in the compact field. They led all the way on an uncontested lead, posting a two-length win over Hot Trip with House of Grace, the 3-5 favorite, third.

Trained by Hall of Famer Allen Jerkens, Granted Tiger ran the one mile in 1:34.94. The 5-year-old improved to 5 for 29, paying $4.40 to win as the 6-5 second choice. There was no place or show wagering.
