Buenos Dias ends 9-race skid at Hollywood Park
June 11, 2010INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) -Buenos Dias ended a nine-race skid by winning Thursday's $49,000 feature at Hollywood Park for his first victory in the United States.
Ridden by Brice Blanc, Buenos Dias ran 1 1/2 miles on the turf in 2:26.76 and paid $16.40, $7.20 and $3.60. It was Hall of Fame trainer Ron McAnally's 721st victory at the track, where he ranks fourth on the career win list, and his first win of the spring-summer meet.
The 5-year-old Ireland-bred is owned by Charles Cella, who owns Oaklawn Park in Arkansas.
Buenos Dias has three wins in 19 career starts, and earnings of $223,412.
Romp returned $5.20 and $3, while Falcon Rock was another three-quarters of a length back in third and paid $2.10 to show.
