Switch upsets Blind Luck in Hollywood Oaks

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) -Switch upset 1-2 favorite Blind Luck to win Sunday's $150,000 Hollywood Oaks by 1 1/4 lengths at Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Martin Garcia, who replaced Joel Rosario, Switch covered 1 1-16 miles in 1:44.54, the slowest time in the race since it was shortened in 2002. She paid $7.40, $2.80 and $2.20 while carrying 113 pounds, 10 less than Blind Luck.

Blind Luck returned $2.20 and $2.10, while Camille C was another three-quarters of a length back in third and paid $3.20 to show. Antares World was fourth and Vision In Gold fifth.

Trained by John Sadler, Switch earned her second win in six career starts and increased her earnings to $189,600. She evened the score with Blind Luck, who had beaten Switch in the Las Virgenes Stakes on Feb. 13 at Santa Anita.

Sadler said Garcia replaced Rosario, who rode Saturday at Belmont Park and then went home to the Dominican Republic. Rosario received a three-day suspension after being disqualified in a stakes race on May 30 and mistakenly believed he couldn't ride Sunday.

``He was supposed to come back and ride her,'' the trainer said.

Blind Luck lost for just the second time in five starts this year. She has won seven of 11 career races and earned more than $1.4 million.
