Cool Bullet wins Monmouth Park feature
June 7, 2010OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) -Cool Bullet took the lead near the top of the stretch and drew off to an easy win in the $100,000 Rumson Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday, beating Nathan's H Q by two lengths.
Trained by Steve Margolis and ridden by Garrett Gomez, the 3-year-old gelding covered the six furlongs over a fast track in 1:11 2/5 and paid $3.60, $2.20 and $2.10. It was the fourth win in nine career starts for Cool Bullet, who boosted his earnings to $170,894.
Nathan's H Q, who led for most of the race, returned $3.20 and $2.80, while My Man Marty was two lengths back in third and paid $4.40.
