Silver Timber wins Monmouth Park feature
June 5, 2010OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) -Silver Timber took the lead in the stretch and beat True to Tradition by two lengths in the $100,000 Wolf Hill Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.
Silver Timber ran the 5 1/2 furlongs over a firm turf course in 1:01 and paid $3.60, $2.40 and $2.20. It was the 12th win in 33 career starts for the 7-year-old gelding, who has now earned $595,519.
True to Tradition paid $13 and $8.60, while early pacesetter Blue Sailor was another length back in third and returned $4.20.
In the co-feature, Lady Alexander regained the lead in the stretch and held on to beat Christine Daae by a nose in the $100,000 Red Cross Stakes.
Lady Alexander covered the six furlongs over a fast track in 1:11 2/5 and returned $11.60, $4.40 and $2.80. Christine Daae paid $3.60 and $2.40, while Rated Fiesty was 1 3/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.60.
