Franny Freud wins Belmont's Stallion Stakes
May 27, 2010NEW YORK (AP) -Franny Freud, the 1-5 favorite, extended her winning streak to three as she easily beat the colts Wednesday in the $100,000 New York Stallion Stakes at Belmont Park.
The only filly in the six-horse field of 3-year-olds bred in New York, Franny Freud romped to a 6-length win over Leatherhead for her seventh win in 10 starts. Garrett Gomez was aboard for trainer John Terranova II as she ran the seven furlongs in 1:21.47 over the firm turf.
Franny Freud paid $2.50, $2.10 and $2.10. Leatherhead returned $7.60 and $3.60, while Make Note paid $2.10 to show.
