Premier Pegasus takes Goodman Stakes at Hollywood

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Premier Pegasus led all the way in the $59,800 Jack Goodman Stakes on Saturday, earning the victory at Hollywood Park's Oak Tree meeting.

Ridden by Alonso Quinonez and racing for just the second time, Premier Pegasus went straight to the front in the field of seven 2-year-olds. Premier Pegasus nearly yielded the lead to McKenzies Way on the turn, but surged down the stretch and won by 1 3/4 lengths, covering six furlongs in 1:09.62.

Premier Pegasus paid $13, $5.60 and $3.60. McKenzies Way was second all the way and paid $6.40 and $3.60. The favorite, Clubhouse Ride, had to rally for third and paid $2.60 to show.

Owned and trained by Myung Cho, Premier Pegasus won his first race as a 44-1 underdog in July. His second victory Sunday was worth $35,400, and increased his earnings to $65,400.
