Lone Star Derby is an American Thoroughbred horse race covering eight and a half furlongs on the dirt track of Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. The race commenced from 1997 as a Listed race. It became grade III race from 2002. This grade III racing event is restricted to three year olds and carries purse of $300,000. From 2001 to 2003, horses ran 1⅛ miles. In 2008 Rafael Bejarano rode El Gato Malo to win Lone Star Derby.
