The La Troienne Stakes is an American horseracing event that is raced annually at a distance of seven and half furlongs on the dirt track of Churchill Downs racetrack. This grade III race is open to thoroughbred fillies with age group three. The name of the stakes is for the greatest broodmare in the United States â La Troienne. From 2009, this race will be renamed Eight Belles Stakes to honor the deceased filly, Eight Belles; it was placed in 2008 Kentucky Derby.
