Breeders' Cup qualifiers increased for 2010
June 25, 2010NEW YORK (AP) -The Breeders' Cup Challenge has added three more races to its program of automatic qualifiers, bringing the total to 65 races in which the winner earns a berth in the Breeders' Cup championships in November.
Most of the qualifiers are in the United States, with England, Ireland, France, Australia and Hong Kong hosting 14 races.
The qualifying races begin June 26 with the Arlington Sprint at Arlington Park near Chicago.
There will be four qualifying races for the $5 million BC Classic - the Whitney Handicap at Saratoga on Aug. 8; the Pacific Classic at Del Mar on Aug. 28; the Washington Park Handicap at Arlington Park on Sept. 4; and the Goodwood Stakes at Santa Anita on Oct. 9.
The $26 million Breeders' Cup championships will be Nov. 5-6 at Churchill Downs.
