Leroy's Dynameaux wins Will Rogers at Hollywood
June 21, 2010INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) -Long shot Leroy's Dynameaux rallied from seventh and held off a charge from favorite Bogie to win by a neck in the $100,000 Will Rogers Stakes on Sunday at Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Joel Rosario, Leroy's Dynameaux sat seventh in the field of eight on the backstretch as Bogie sat last in the Grade 3 for 3-year-olds at 1 1-16 miles on the turf.
Leroy's Dynameaux took the lead from Macias in the final yards and Bogie's rally came too late as the 3-year-old gelding won in 1:40.43.
The winner paid $29.20, $10 and $6. Bogie paid $3.60 and $2.60. Macias paid $3.20.
It was the second victory in four starts for Leroy's Dynameaux, a son of Leroidesanimaux trained by Mark Glatt. The $60,000 prize pushed his overall earnings to $102,800.
