Friend or Foe wins Belmont's Mike Lee Stakes
June 21, 2010NEW YORK (AP) -Friend or Foe remained undefeated with his third consecutive victory, beating General Maximus by 2 1/2 lengths Sunday in the $98,000 Mike Lee Stakes for New York-bred 3-year-olds at Belmont Park.
Never far behind the pacesetting General Maximus, Friend or Foe ranged along side and wore down the leader to take charge in the final eighth of a mile. Rajiv Maragh was aboard for trainer John Kimmel as Friend or Foe ran the seven furlongs in 1:21.68 on the fast track.
Friend or Foe paid $7.40, $3.70 and $2.40 as the 5-2 third choice. General Maximus returned $4.20 and $2.40. Ibboyee paid $2.10 to show as the even-money favorite.
