Golden Itiz wins Affirmed Handicap at Hollywood
June 20, 2010INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) -Heavy favorite Golden Itiz used a late rally to beat Skipshot by a half-length and win the $100,000 Affirmed Handicap on Saturday at Hollywood Park.
Skipshot sat second for much of the race and took the lead at the top of the stretch, but Golden Itiz and rider Tyler Baze came from fourth and shot past him in the final yards to take his first graded stakes and third straight victory, covering 1 1-16 miles in 1:42.84.
Golden Itiz paid $3.80, $3 and $2.40. Skipshot paid $4.20 and $3. Alphie's Bet was well back in third and paid $2.80 to show.
A 3-year-old son of Tiznow trained by Ron Ellis for owners Mace and Samantha Siegel, has won three of four career starts and has earned a total of $118,080.
