Eventually , he served as principal of Seneca, Durrett and Valley High Schools in Louisville , Kentucky before retiring in 1990. Agent of jockey Julien Leparoux, Steve Bass was his pupil. He owned and trained horses throughout his time in education. General Quarters is the most successful colt he owned and trained.
